CBI was founded in 2003 and oversees all research activities within the Department of Radiology. CAI2R is a National Center for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, supported by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). CAI2R is operated by the Department of Radiology and a subset of CBI staff is affiliated with CAI2R. CAI2R pursues innovation in three areas:
1) Intelligent image acquisition, reconstruction, and analysis
2) Flexible sensor-rich imaging hardware
3) Biophysical Modeling and Validation for Discovery and Clinical Care
